You know winter is coming when to my home when:

1. It is getting colder every day and because we dont have a fridge, the milk is freezing over night.

2. The kids are an hour late for school because despite the three alarms set, no one can get out of bed before 8:30 and it is still pitch black out.

3. The kids outside clothing is covered in reflectors.

4. The flood lights are on the playground and soccer field after school.

5. The dog cries when she is outside for too long and comes in shivering.

6. You can never find a matching pair of mittens in the morning, but seem to have about 15 left gloves of different colors.

7. On Fridays, the big sheet washing day, you spend the evening roaming around a field looking for the sheets that blew off the line, so you can wash them again.

8. The amount of laundry triples thanks to all the layers everyone is wearing.

9. You let your kids run around outside for hours in the dark - the fresh air is good for them and I am sure they should be developing some sort of night vision by now.

10. It is easy to get the kids to bed really early because they have no idea what time it is.

It will only get darker now and I hear that December and January are killers.

I am already looking forward to spring.
