Stupid Post Office

We knew it was all going bad when they privatized that postal service here in Iceland.

The mail has gone crazy, and here are a few examples:

1. They cut the wages and took away shift bonuses. This happened the most to the Polish who do not speak English or Icelandic. So they now sort mail in the middle of the night for 700 kr an hour.

2. Kristína and Már found a bag of undelivered mail on the side of the road. After calling the post office twice, who promised to take care of it ASAP, ending up delivering the mail. It had been sitting there several days.
Maybe this will become a trend and the mail will be delivered my volunteers?

3. The mail just stopped arriving. Except for the old piece here and there, we have gotten next to no mail for three weeks. The entire apartment building does not get any mail most days. How is this possible?
So anything being sent to me should be insured, I think it costs only 1.00 extra and I will insure anything I send out.

This is the best:
4. We had been waiting to get Davíð's payslip with my tax card in the mail for more then two weeks. I mean that it should have arrived more then two weeks ago. Davíð talked to his work and everything. Today we get this:

The payslip and tax card, but it had been sent around a bit, returned to his work and even opened, then taped back up. The post office claimed that Davíð does not live here and his employer wrote on the envelope that he does to live here and his mail box has his name on it.

I think the mail had a better chance during the war.
